Many people ask us about the building we had built this year for our RV. It has been a wonderful addition to our home base and we have loved it. We are still figuring out how to use the space and how to keep it organized. We do have a plan for a video of the construction of the building. In the mean time, here’s a time lapse of the framework being done in one day!
Boondocking @ Big Bend National Park
We haven’t talked a lot about our first official boondocking experience near Big Bend National Park. We took this trip during March of 2022. We had a wonderful time exploring the national park and highly recommend a visit there!
We had just gotten our New Solar Installed, the link the video is below for the background on that whole experience, and we were testing it out for the first time, totally off grid! The problem we discovered when going off grid at the time, was that there was zero cellular service. So even though Charlotte was in the scout Jeep, to forge ahead and check the road conditions, we just weren’t clear on our actual plan of how far she should go, or at what point she should come back if communication was lost.
We learned a lot during that trip, things we plan to share very soon! In the mean time, check out this short of a little bit of what we had to do to exit our boondocking site.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel to see that video when it goes live! It will be eye-opening and you will wonder why we did the things we did! Not something we would recommend as a first time off the grid in a large 5th wheel!
Would you take your Rig over this kind of hill?
Our Latest and Greatest Upgrade
Video will premier at 7 PM Central!
We purchased and had the MORryde Safe-T-Rail and the Latch Extendender installed onto our Momentum at the Grand Design National Rally. We’ve had it on for a few weeks and have had a chance to really use it (and appreciate it). This has got to be one of the best upgrades we have done! Charlotte put together a review video to show you all about this upgrade, so check it out! Don’t forget to like it and follow our channel so we can share this awesome upgrade with other RVers! This upgrade is perfect for young and old, helps make entering and exiting the RV safe and easy, and so amaxing, we had to share it!! Check it out!
Monday at Home Base
It’s just an ordinary day at Keevs5. We are homeschooling, working, and doing laundry. Video editing is in full swing this week as we are trying to create as much as possible so others can be entertained and maybe even find some cool places to travel to. Our next video takes us back to Spring Break of this year when we took our RV out for our first “off the grid” boondocking experience.
What is boondocking? Boondocking is camping with no connections like electricity, water, or sewer. We took it a step further, by having zero cellular connection! We had no contact with the outside world (or each other when in separate vehicles) when we were at or traveling to our RV!
Boy did we learn a lot! We made some major mistakes, even damaged our RV in the process. We also discovered how inefficient our new solar system was, had voltage drops, and couldn’t even get our batteries charged fully with our generator! This is when we discovered the inverter only recognized one leg of our 50 amp generator! It was challenging, but also amazing at the same time! We will be making two videos of our experiences there: one of the boondocking (nightmare?!) and the other of the beautiful Big Bend National Park!
Stay tuned and follow our YouTube Channel and enable notifications so you can see our Boondocking video right away! Here’s a little sample of our time in BBNP!
Selling our Beautiful Boat
For almost as long as we have been married, Bryan and I have owned a boat. We have made so many memories on our 3 boats. Since getting our Momentum and traveling the country, we just haven’t had time to enjoy time on the water. For this reason, we are letting our 2013 SeaRay Sundeck 260 go up for sale. If you’re looking for an amazing and beautiful boat, please consider it! It is well cared for and maintained!

Grand Design National Rally 2022
We’ve just returned home from the Grand Design National Rally, and are still processing everything that we experienced there at the rally. As first timers, there was a lot to digest as far as the many things going on each and every day. As Texans, it was a 1100 mile journey to Goshen, Indiana, but absolutely worth the days and miles!
We arrived just before the gate closed at 4:55 pm on Sunday, August 28th. The wonderful volunteers had us checked in and on our way to Section K within 10 minutes. Our camp host Rick was waiting for us at K. He was the best host!
We have created a YouTube video our our experience at the National Rally! See it here on our YouTube Channel! Please subscribe our channel and leave comments her and also there!
Packing up for the Grand Design National Rally!
We are so excited to be attending our first Grand Design National Rally! We had a few requests that we bring our tiki bar, so we have it all loaded up and ready to go! Here’s how it all looks! We have Margaritas for all our visitors!
Bryan finished up the modifications to our solar and electrical system today! It is working so smoothly now! Such a relief!
We added two solar panels
It took a lot of study and reading to feel confident enough to add another run of solar panels, but we did it! Bryan did all the heavy lifting and installing of the panels. Charlotte helped with assembly of the hardward and coming up with a creative way to lift them onto the roof. We will add another two after our next trip. This install was 90% Bryan!
We have the panels running today in the sun and are happy to see them powing our air conditioner, with the help of the other 3 panels we had installed in December. We had 4 originally, but one flew off on the way out of the NRVTA!
We have completely redesigned our system to make it safer and able to handle the loads, added an autotransformer, fuses, and other components. We are very proud of this system now!
Our New Website
We are very excited about our newest adventure, blogging on our new website! We have a lot to learn about the design and layout of our page, but we are working on it!
Today we are in the preparation phase for our next big trip: The Grand Design National Rally! We are also in the middle of another upgrade to our solar system and have been working on the RV after homeschool and work! Check out our reel on Instagram or Facebook showing how we lifted a large solar panel onto our roof! Leave us a comment! It took some clever thinking to get the panel safely to the roof last night. We will be lifting 1 more today and then attaching them to the roof and getting them hooked into the system!
Meet Keevs5

Today we start a new adventure! Not one that is in our truck or in our camper, but one that is online for the world to see. So who are we and what are we all about? We are a growing family of 5. Two of our children have flown the nest, and our youngest remains with us, a fiesty teenager who has been homeschooled since 4th grade. We started RVing because a friend was selling their RV and we wanted to try it out. Turns out we enjoyed it quite a bit!
Since that small 26 foot Jayco bumper pull, we have moved to a 38 foot Highland Ridge bumper pull and then into our current RV, a 39 foot 5th wheel toyhauler, the Grand Design Momentum. We decided to take our schooling on the road whenever we could, and try to show our son the lower 48 before he reaches high school. Well, he’s in 8th grade now, and we are well on our way! 40 States under our belt!
Our mission as a family is to see the world and to make the world a better place along the way. You may have seen our tiki bar making the rounds when we travel. We use the tiki bar as a way to gather people together in a relaxed atmosphere and also to raise money for charity! Our current favorite charity is The Honor Network. You can find them here and learn more about their wonderful mission. https://www.ushf.net/
